Irradiation by health lamp (HL) light (280–320 nm) more efficiently induced cell killing and mutation in a radiation sensitive mutant (TW8) of Dictyostelium discoideum as compared with the parental wild-type strain (NC4). This light as well as a germicidal lamp-light (254 nm) produced pyrimidine dimers. The dimers were removed from DNA molecules by excision repair in NC4, but more slowly in TW8. It is suggested that pyrimidine dimers are the main DNA damage caused by HL light in D. discoideum , and that this results in cell killing and induced mutation.  相似文献

We present a study of thermal conductivity in the normal state of the heavy-fermion superconductor URu2Si2. Ordering at 18 K leads to a steep increase in thermal conductivity and (in contrast with all other cases of magnetic ordering in heavy-fermion compounds) to an enhancement of the Lorenz number. By linking this observation to several other previously reported features, we conclude that most of the carriers disappear in the ordered state and this leads to a drastic increase in both the phononic and electronic mean free path.  相似文献

Results are reported from a search for active to sterile neutrino oscillations in the MINOS long-baseline experiment, based on the observation of neutral-current neutrino interactions, from an exposure to the NuMI neutrino beam of 7.07×10(20) protons on target. A total of 802 neutral-current event candidates is observed in the Far Detector, compared to an expected number of 754 ± 28(stat) ± 37(syst) for oscillations among three active flavors. The fraction f(s) of disappearing ν(μ) that may transition to ν(s) is found to be less than 22% at the 90% C.L.  相似文献

Measurements of neutrino oscillations using the disappearance of muon neutrinos from the Fermilab NuMI neutrino beam as observed by the two MINOS detectors are reported. New analysis methods have been applied to an enlarged data sample from an exposure of 7.25×10(20) protons on target. A fit to neutrino oscillations yields values of |Δm(2)|=(2.32(-0.08)(+0.12))×10(-3) eV(2) for the atmospheric mass splitting and sin(2)(2θ)>0.90 (90% C.L.) for the mixing angle. Pure neutrino decay and quantum decoherence hypotheses are excluded at 7 and 9 standard deviations, respectively.  相似文献

We have studied the three-dimensional shapes of the Fermi surfaces (FSs) of BaFe(2)(As(1-x)P(x))(2) (x=0.38), where superconductivity is induced by isovalent P substitution and by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. Moderately strong electron mass enhancement has been identified for both the electron and hole FSs. Among two observed hole FSs, the nearly two-dimensional one shows good nesting with the outer two-dimensional electron FS, but its orbital character is different from the outer electron FS. The three-dimensional hole FS shows poor nesting with the electron FSs. The present results suggest that the three dimensionality and the difference in the orbital character weaken FS nesting while partial nesting among the outer electron FSs of d(xy) character and/or that within the three-dimensional hole FS becomes dominant, which may lead to the nodal superconductivity.  相似文献

Micrometer pixelated arrays comprised of different functional organic molecules were formed on a polymer film using a laser implantation and transfer dry processing technique. The spatial distribution of the implanted organic molecules and the extended pattern that they formed could be controlled with high resolution as determined using fluorescence microscopy. The individual molecular implant pixels had a diameter of less than 4 m. This method of molecular manipulation is both precise and reproducible and could therefore be used in many applications such as molecular devices, molecular sensors, non-linear optical devices, drug delivery and opto-electronic displays. Four novel multifunctional polyoxometalate (POM)-based inorganic-organic hybrid compounds, [α(2)-P(2)W(17)O(61){(RGe)}](7-) (Ge-1, R(1) = HOOC(CH(2))(2(-)) and Ge-2, R(2) = H(2)C═CHCH(2(-))) and [α(2)-P(2)W(17)O(61){(RSi)(2)O}](6-) (Si-1, R(1) and Si-2, R(2)), were prepared by incorporating organic chains having terminal functional groups (carboxylic acid and allyl groups) into monolacunary site of Dawson polyoxoanion [α(2)-P(2)W(17)O(61)](10-). In these POMs, new modification of the terminal functional groups was attained by introducing organogermyl and organosilyl groups. Dimethylammonium salts of the organogermyl complexes, (Me(2)NH(2))(7)[α(2)-P(2)W(17)O(61)(R(1)Ge)]·H(2)O MeN-Ge-1 and (Me(2)NH(2))(7)[α(2)-P(2)W(17)O(61)(R(2)Ge)]·4H(2)O MeN-Ge-2, were obtained as analytically pure crystals, in 22.8% and 55.3% yields, respectively, by stoichiometric reactions of [α(2)-P(2)W(17)O(61)](10-) with separately prepared Cl(3)GeC(2)H(4)COOH in water, and H(2)C═CHCH(2)GeCl(3) in a solvent mixture of water/acetonitrile. Synthesis and X-ray structure analysis of the Dawson POM-based organogermyl complexes were first successful. Dimethylammonium salts of the corresponding organosilyl complexes, (Me(2)NH(2))(6)[α(2)-P(2)W(17)O(61){(R(1)Si)(2)O}]·4H(2)O MeN-Si-1 and (Me(2)NH(2))(6)[α(2)-P(2)W(17)O(61){(R(2)Si)(2)O}]·6H(2)O MeN-Si-2, were also obtained as analytically pure crystalline crystals, in 17.1% and 63.5% yields, respectively, by stoichiometric reactions of [α(2)-P(2)W(17)O(61)](10-) with NaOOC(CH(2))(2)Si(OH)(2)(ONa) and H(2)C═CHCH(2)Si(OEt)(3). These complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses (TG/DTA), FTIR, solid-state ((31)P) and solution ((31)P, (1)H, and (13)C) NMR, and X-ray crystallography.  相似文献
